DescriptionThe spoon has a fig-shaped bowl, tapering hexagonal stem, and a gilt diamond-point finial. The bowl, stem, and finial are forged from a single piece. There are splits in the bowl that have been filled with lead solder.
ProvenanceCharles G. Rupert, New York. December 13, 1947, Parke-Bernet, New York, lot 217, purchased by the MFA with the Theodora Wilbour Fund in memory of Charlotte Beebe Wilbour for $960 [see note 1]. (December 29, 1947)
