DescriptionThe font-shaped cup stands on three feet in the form of male busts. The stem rises from a flaring foot with a molded and crenellated rim and two stamped borders. The slightly domed cover rises to a point and is surmounted by a figure of an eagle. A foliate cresting is applied to the rim. The stem, cup, and cover are chased overall with a pattern of overlapping lobes. The interior of the cup and cover is gilt. The finial is attached on the interior with a boss in the form of a Tudor rose. The body of the vessel, the cover, and the foot are raised and chased; the interior base of the cup is domed and a flat disk is applied to the top of the open stem. The three feet are cast; one has been reattached with lead solder. The foot rim is formed of two molded and stamped pieces connected with a lap join. The finial and the cresting on the cover are cast. The interior of the stem is deeply pitted and the silver is cracked and worn through in several places.
