DescriptionThe leather bottle is in the form of an inverted funnel. It is mounted around the foot and the neck with silver that is engraved with a coat of arms and an inscription. From a molded band at the top of the neck, the neck flares to an everted rim. The opening is fitted with a small cover surmounted by a figure of Neptune astride a dolphin. The leather bottle is formed of two pieces, the body, which is seamed, and the circular base, which is stitched and strengthened by a wood foot rim. The silver foot rim is seamed and has an applied drawn wire rim; the neck is raised. The finial is cast, and secured to the cork stopper with a threaded post. The inside of the neck has been repaired with a silverplated copper insert.
