DescriptionOne of a pair. Each candlestick has a square base with incurved, canted corners, with a guilloche and rosette pattern against a matted ground. The fluted terminal rises to a baluster stem with chased palmetto leaves and swags suspended from rosettes. The urn-shaped socket has chased palmetto leaves on a matted ground and a reeded rim. The removable waxpans have fluting and a rim of beading. The candlesticks are assembled from cast and chased components. The bases are apparently cast, while the stems are formed of seamed sheet, chased and molded over a solid core. One of a pair with 56.505.

On two sides of each base and on the bezel of one waxpan, maker's mark IF (Jones, p. 357) (repeated on bezel of other waxpan) and maker's mark MB; lion passant; anchor (repeated on bezel of other waxpan); date letter B (repeated on bezel of other waxpan)
