DescriptionThe Laotian goddess Ki Mao Sao sits raised on a scrolled base with central cartouche inscribed with pseudo-Chinese characters. Two male attendants kneel at either side. The goddess wears a pale yellow jacket with a red belt and blue jewels. After a ca. 1729 engraving by Michel Aubert after Watteau, entitled "Idole de la Desse Ki Mao Sao dans le Royaume de Mang au pays des Laos."
