DescriptionThe round plate has a twelve-lobed, petal-shaped rim edged in brown enamel. In the center, on the white ground, is a scene depicting a Japanese man, dressed in a green robe with black and puce details and an iron-red skirt, holding a young child, also wearing an iron-red robe. The child leans forward, reaching with his left arm toward a second child standing on the right, who wears a puce jacket and yellow trousers. They are shown in a landscape composed of exotic flowers painted in the Kakiemon style in iron-red, puce, green, turquoise, blue, and yellow. The ground and rocks are painted in yellow with brown and black enamel, highlighted with red dots. A stylized tree with green and turquoise leaves and a trunk incorporating puce dots grows from the rock formation. Scattered on the white ground of the plate are various flowers and insects, some with gilt highlights.
