DescriptionOne of a pair of plates (with 1972.131) with blue and white decoration; center scene of butterfly and flowers in footed bowls, one on a low table. Repeated blue and white floral decoration 1" wide around scalloped edge. Reverse 4 blue lines around plate. Condition: crack in one and chips around edges of both.

Marks Marks "20 / conjoined IW" (Jacob Wemmersz Hoppestein, proprietor of Het Mariaenshooft, 1664-1671, but mark continued to be used by his widow, Jannetje, and her son Rochus, to his death in 1692.)
