DescriptionQuilted bedcover. Red and off-white toile front with off-white backing. Solid red binding. Images depicted: George Washington on chariot of America, drawn by leopards; allegorical figure of America holds oval, "American Independence, 1776"; indigenous peoples; Liberty leading Franklin and Athene toward the Temple of Fame, with banner "Where Liberty Dwells There Is My Country"; cherubs holding a globe; a bird in vegetation; the "Liberty Tree" with "Stamp Act" sign, and surrounded by a gun, shield, and cannonballs. Soldiers/battle scenes rendered more lightly and smaller in background. Figures arranged so that when the quilt is placed on the bed and hangs over the edges and the foot of the bed, all figures would be displayed properly, upright.
