These small ewers are inscribed “A” and “O” for aceto and olio: vinegar and oil.
DescriptionOne of a pair of small cruets. Each is made up of six pieces of transparent red amber. Fitted with an elaborate handle, an "O [olio]" within the confines of the handle. The omega letter, fashioned from a opaque brown piece of amber, is a modern replacement.
ProvenanceAccording to information provided by the donor, acquired from a church near Lake Maggiore, Italy .
