DescriptionMiniature commode carved from a single piece of green nephrite with shaped sides and front and overlaid with pierced foliated scrolled gold work on gold legs. Hinged nephrite cover has molded gold edge.
InscriptionsMarked on front edge with Faberge's mark, 56 (gold standard) and crossed anchor mark for St. Petersburg, and initials for maker. Unique inventory mark scratched inside rim of lid on proper right side "41649".
ProvenanceProbably acquired in Europe by Delia Spencer (Mrs. Marshall) Field (b. 1854 - d. 1937), Paris and Washington, DC; by inheritance to her niece, Catherine Spencer Eddy (Mrs. Albert J.)
