DescriptionThis object is the right arm to a wooden model figure that likely came from a boat model. Its bent elbow and hand suggest it belonged to a sailor on a sailing vessel, specifically one (of likely several) who tended to the ships mast and sail. It is painted with reddish brown pigment, the standard color for male figures in such wooden models.
ProvenanceFrom Deir el-Bersha, tomb 10, shaft A (tomb of Djehutynakht). May 1915: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt. (Accession Date: March 1, 1921)
