DescriptionThis figure likely once belonged with a wooden tomb model of a boat, perhaps more specifically a funerary boat. He is painted yellow skin and a white garment. His large, painted eyes have been detailed with black and white. He likely is meant to represent a funerary priest. His arms are bent and slightly raised. In its original orientation, the figure's arms were likely directed towards a low, rectangular funeral bier with an associated representation of a mummified individual on it. One arm has become detatched from the figure's shoulder, to which it was joined via a small dowell.
ProvenanceFrom Deir el-Bersha, tomb 10, shaft A (tomb of Djehutynakht). May 1915: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt. (Accession Date: March 1, 1921)
