DescriptionEach caster has a pear-shaped body that rests on a cast foot with a gadrooned border. The body is formed from two raised parts, with two wires, a molded and a crimped, covering the join at the midsection. The lower part of the body is ornamented with an applied foliate cut-card pattern. The upper section of the body is engraved overall with interwinged foliage enclosing birds and at the center a winged demifigure. Below the rim is an applied cut-card trefoi-border. the domed cover, which is raised, has a cast gadrooned flange and a molded rim. The cover is ornamented with an engraved and pierced design representing swags, vases of flowers and birds. The fluted cast in centered on a cut-cardc quatrefoil.

InscriptionsARMORIALS: engraved on front of each, the arms of Offley impaling Crewe for Anne (d. 1708), daughter and heir of John Crewe (d. 1684) of Crewe Hall, Cheshire, who married John Offley, Esq., of Madeley, co. Stafford.
