DescriptionThe elliptical body of the sauceboat is raised, with a broad pouring spout and a shaped, cut rim. Three cast shell legs are applied. A double-scroll handle, cast in two halves and joined with a vertical seam, rises above the sauceboat.
Marks
On the underside, maker's mark WG (Grimwade 3147); date letter n; leopard's head crowned; lion passant.
InscriptionsARMORIALS: engraved on the side, the arms of Nealewell, Waff, Wass, or Waugh impaling an unidentified coat of arms (on a chevron sable three bezants impaling, per bend embattled gules and argent on a chief or a castle between two lions passant guardant).
