DescriptionThe circular salver has a broad, richly decorated rim with four cast scrolled feet. The rim, cast in sections and chased, is molded with female masks at the feet that represent the Seasons. On the border, between them, amid scrolls and shells, are fruits, flowers, folliage, and animals (birds, sheep, a rabbit, and a dog), also symbolizing the Seasons. The tray of the salver is chased with the signs of the zodiac enclosed by scrolls and flowers, at the center of which is engraved a coat of arms in a plain reserve. The edge of the tray is secured on the underside by a strip of sheet soldered onto the rim and hammered over the rim.
