DescriptionThe teapot has an elliptical body with straight sides formed from seamed sheet. A reeded wire strengthens the join of the inset base. The straight, tapered spout is formed of seamed sheet. The ear-shaped handle is wood, mounted on cylindrical sockets. The shoulder of the teapot has an applied reeded wire, as does the rim. The body is decorated with bands of bright-cut patterns along the base, shoulder, and rim, and bright-cut swags of flowers that frame an empty cartouche on both sides. The elliptical domed lid has a band of bright-cut design along its edge, and the elliptical baluster finial, broken and repaired, is made of ivory.
