DescriptionThe paneled vase-shaped body rests on a spreading, shaped square plinth, which is supported by four scrolled feet. The body and the foot are formed from raised sheet, with applied moldings and wires. The cast squared handles are harp-shaped with applied acanthus and palmette leaves and chased rosettes. The tapering spout, which is square in section, is joined to a shaped ellipse on the lower front of the body and has a jade spigot. The paneled trumpet-shaped cover is surmounted by an urn-shaped finial. Each panel on the plinth, body and cover is ornamented with bright-cut bands and floral sprays. The interior of the urn is fitted with a removable cylinder to contain a heater that has a plain cap with a handle and a shield in the form of a disk. These pieces are fabricated from sheet.
