DescriptionThe inverted pear-shaped body is raised and rests on a splayed, molded foot. The ear-shaped wooden scrolled handle is mounted on cast ornament sockets. The curved, fluted spout has acanthus leaves at the tip and along the underside, and a scalloped base with a drop. It is cast in two pieces and seamed vertically. The domed, hinge cover is mounted on a hidden hinge. The cover is surmounted by a baluster gadrooned finial. The bright finish of the surface was probably a result of a large repair to the body near the spout, where a bruise was removed. The cover, which bears a different mark, was also probably repaired, as was the foot.

On underside of foot, maker's mark WG (similar to Grimwade 3147)(repeated inside cover); lion passant (repeated inside cover); leopard's head crowned; date letter k. Inside cover, maker's mark WG (possibly Grimwade 3418).
InscriptionsEngraved inside foot, P*D / to / R*D 19=13.
