First edition with these illustrations; publication date assigned from copyright on title page. This copy agrees in format size with other descriptions of the first edition; MFA owns an edition datable to 1880 in smaller format and with imprint of Houghton, Mifflin (1982.351). The illustrations are printed by the Heliotype Printing Co. after Darley's pen drawings.
