DescriptionThe plain, octagonal, globural body, raised from sheet, sits on an octagonal open stand and is held in place by two removable pins on chains. Its faceted spout is formed from two vertically seamed halves and has a scalloped base and a molded leaf at its tip. The cover has a raised hinge on one side and sits flush with the rim of the kettle. A wooden finial is mounted on a hexagonal base and secured with a silver nut and bolt. This shaped bail handle, cast and covered in rattan, has lobed mounts securing the hinges to the body of the kettle. The stand, assembled from cast components, rests on four double-scrolled legs with cushion feet. They hold betweeen them a faceted octagonal lamp with a molded midsection, a raised thimble-shaped liner, and a flat, octagonal cover.

On underside of kettle and underside of lamp, maker's mark GS (Grimwade 890); date letter N(repeated on frame); leopard's head crowned(repeated on frame);lion passant (repeated inside cover and on cover of lamp).
