DescriptionOne of a pair of Japanese Imari silver-mounted covered jars, the porcelain painted with chrysanthemums and foliage in blue and red with gilding. The mounts on the body comprising a circular gadrooned foot, four rosette bolts, and a collar of engraved strapwork. On the lid, a molded rim and round domed knob with a band of engraved strapwork.
Marks Unknown Mark: a fleur-de-lys in a diamond-shaped shield: Knob and rim of lid, collar and foot of body. "401A" engraved on lid flange, "401" engraved on underside of foot.
