DescriptionA round spittoon, the body slightly bombe and chased with swags of berried laurel. Ring handle and scroll thumbpiece. The funnel lid hinged with a border of ribbon-bound reeds.

Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lys, 2 grains, FR, a heart (Nocq II p 402): Underside of lid, Underside of bowl. Warden's Mark: 1772-73, a crowned I (Dennis 132): Underside of lid, Underside of bowl. Charge Mark: for large work, 1768-1775, a crowned A (Dennis 132): Underside of bowl. Discharge Mark: for work intended for export, 1733 (?)-1775, a little cow (Dennis 150): Rim. Other: Import mark: from 1864 for work from countries sharing a Commerce treaty, an ant in an oval shield (Arminjon et al p 41): Lid interior, body to right on handle.
