DescriptionA baluster-shaped ewer, stepped foot with row of gadroons. The lower part of the body covered by upraised laurel leaves against a textured ground. Two moldings encircling body, engraved coat of arms [count's coronet ?] The spout formed of a bearded male mask with fluted headress. Scroll handle, ending in a female mask. Hinged, stepped lid with gadroons at edge, scroll thumbpiece. Lobed finial with six petals.

Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lys, two grains,SLB, an arrow (Dennis 214): flange of lid. Warden's Mark: 1705-06, a crowned M (Dennis 328): underside of lid, underside of body; Charge Mark: 1704-1712, an A encircled by a crown [Etienne Baligny] (Dennis 27): underside of lid; Discharge Mark: for work made in more than one piece, 1704-1712, a crown with scepter and hand of justice (Dennis 27): Under rim to right of handle; Special countermark, 1705-1708, a crowned E with two grains (Dennis 126): below rim to right of handle.
