DescriptionOne of a pair of four-light candelabra. On a shaped triangular two tiered basewith a molded rim. The upper part of the base is divided into three sections by thick, scrolling, molded bands terminating in leaves and berries. Each section has a spray of leaves and berries, partially matted, on a matted ground. The base rises to a small shaped triangular knop which gives way to a baluster stem. The stem is divided into three sections by sprays of foliage each of which extends downwards terminating at the knop. Each section has a foliage sprayrising from the knop and terminating in a spray of berries on a matted ground. The nozzle has three empty panels surrounded by matting and foliage with fluting in between. The branch has four scrolling foliage arms, three rising laterally, one vertically, from a spiral dome and a circular pan with a foliate rim. The detachable nozzles rise from spiral foliage detachable bobeches. The nozzles are lobed with a foliate base.
Marks Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, EPB, a cinquefoil (Dennis, 30). Warden's Mark: 1745-1746 : a crowned E (Dennis, 30). Charge mark: probably for 1744-1750: a crowned A (Dennis, 30). Other: a small rectangle; a small head (?). The rectangle is on the stem and the rim of the base, the head(?) is on the stem and the bobeche of the branch. The Warden's, Maker's and Charge mark s are on the inside rim of hte base, and possibly in the nozzle.
