DescriptionOne of a set of four cast trencher salts. Of shaped oval form with scrolling forming the supports. The concave sides have molded rims and a depression for salt divided into four slightly lobed sections.
Marks Maker's Mark: a crowned BB with a grain between, a flaming heart (?). Other: a crowned A, two grains, a fleur-de-lis (?). Appraisal list gives the date and location as Avignon, c. 1740 (See Helft, 1241).
