DescriptionOne of a pair of shaped square dishes, with a deep center depression and a molded rim.
Marks Maker's Mark: IMLIN in a rectangle (Helft, 1196). Maison Commune: Strasbourg, 1775: a crowned, foliate L (Helft, 1105 (1195?)). Other: "Reconnaisance de Strasbourg (11deniers, 12 grains, titre de Paris)" for large works (Helft, 1103); Countermark used after 1838: parts of insects (Rosenberg, 5929); a small swan in an oval, applied after 1893:"Ce poincon s' applique aussi sur les ouvrages aux titres legaux provenant des ventes publiques et dont on ne peut pas deternminer la provenance. Les droits de garantie ne sont pas restitues en cas de reexportation des ouvrages marquis de ce poincon" (Tardy, p. 179).
