DescriptionA small silver-gilt milk jug. The plain baluster body has a molded rim around the base of the detachable turned wooden handle and a small fluted spout. The hinged cover is engraved with several concentric rings. The applied thumbpieceis mushroom shaped and fluted on the front. The finial is baluster shaped.
Marks Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, ANC, a snake (Nocq, p. 310).
Warden's Mark: 1779-1780: a crowned q (Dennis, 309).
Charge Mark: for largework, 1775-1781: a crowned A (Dennis, 309).
Discharge Mark: for small work 17 75-1781: a monkey's head (Dennis, 309).
The Maker's, Warden's and Charge marks are on the base and the interior of the lid, the Discharge mark is on the rim of the cover and the body.
