DescriptionSponge-box with compressed spherical body on molded, shaped circular foot. Hinged cover is pierced with scrolling foliage and rosettes and has a molded rim with an applied thumbpiece.
Marks Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, PFR, a key (Dennis, 292). Warden's Mark: 1771-1772: a crowned H (Dennis, 38). Charge Mark: 1768-1775 for small work: a calyx surrounded by fleurons (Dennis, 35). Discharge Mark: 1773(?)-1775 for work intended for export: a little cow (Dennis, 28). Other: guarantee mark used after 1838 for medium-sized work: a small boar's head (Tardy, p.173).
