DescriptionAn oval-shaped double salt, the scrollwork base resting on four scroll feet and engraved with a coat of arms on one long side. Two three-lobed inset bowls for the slat, each with a hinged shell lid.
Marks
Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lys, 2 grains, CAC, a cherubim (Nocq I p 244): Undersides of both basins and both lids, underside of scroll support. Warden's Mark: 1761-62, a crowned X (Dennis 75): Undersides of both basins and both lids, underside of scroll support. Charge Mark: for large work, 1756-62, a crowned A (Dennis 75): Undersides of both basins. Charge Mark: for small work,1756-62, a harrow (Dennis 75): Back of scroll support, undersides of both lids.
InscriptionsEngraved coat of arms. Engraved "146" and "GC" on bottoms of bowls.
