DescriptionA miniature milk-jug. The body is baluster shaped with a molded band at the base of the detachable turned wood handle and a molded rim with a shallow spout. Hinged cover has an everted lip covering the spout, a volute humbpiece and a button finial.
Marks Maker's Marks: incomplete, under the lid cover: a crowned fleur-de-lis, a grain, R (P?), a device;
Under base, a crowned fleur-de-lis, a grain, C, a device (animal's head?).
Charge Mark: for Paris, large work, 1783-1789: a crowned A (under lid cover and under base).
Discharge marks: Paris 1787-1788, a crowned P (under lid cover). Paris 1785-1786, a crowned P (under base, very incomplete).
Other: Guarantee mark used after 1838: a small boar's head (Tardy, p. 173) on the rim of the cover; a shell on the rim of the body (discharge Paris 1756-1762 or Bordeaux 1781-1789).
