Marks
Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, PFG, a fly (Dennis, 172). Warden's Mark: 1777-1778: a crowned O (Dennis, 17). Charge Mark: for large work, 1775-1781: a crowned A (Dennis, 17). Discharge Mark: for large work, 1775-1781: an Ox's head (Dennis, 240). Other: countermark used after 1838: insects in geometric shapes (Rosenberg, 5928); Guarantee Mark used after 1838: a small boars head (Tardy, p. 173); Countermark used after 1838: parts of insects (Rosenberg, 5929); Excise mark for large work, 1819-1838: a head of Ceres in a circle(Dennis, 222); Assay mark for first standard silver, 1819-1838: a head of Michaelangelo with I in a vertical octagon (Dennis, 222).
