DescriptionBaya: Deep hemispherical shell of nickel-plated brass. Head of thick goat skin attached to plaited, four-ply hoop of leather. Upper hoop laced with strip of buffalo hide in V-pattern to lower hoop of leather at base of body. Tabla: Inverted conical shell of brown hardwood with shallow round stem at base. Head of thick goat skin attached to plaited, four-ply hoop of leather. Upper hoop laced with strip of buffalo hide in V-pattern to lower hoop of leather at base of body. Eight cylindrical tuning blocks beneath laces. Tuning hammer of steel. Two padded ring supports wrapped with blue patterned cloth.
