DescriptionCarved with stylized volutes and plant motifs, with fretwork crosspieces, polychromed and gilded finish.
ProvenanceAbout 1740, possibly made for Don Antonio Pacheco y Tovar, first count of San Javier (b. 1694– d. 1742), Caracas, Venezuela [see note 1]. 1930s, auctioned in Venezuela. By 1966, Manuel Santaella, Caracas; by descent to Mercedes Santaella de Henning, Caracas; 2000, sold by Santaella de Henning to the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, Caracas; 2017, gift of the Colección Cisneros to the MFA.
