DescriptionCrooked in E-flat. Silver-plated brass. Cylindro-conoidal bore. Made in three parts: crook, instrument proper, and the slide. The tube has two bends. The slide is operated by a long hollow rod sliding over another one of smaller diameter, inside of which are concealed two gut strings attached to two brass drums with spiral springs inside. The spring drums (only one is now actually on this instrument) are enclosed in special circular cases; the drums revolve on bronze axles. Triple boss on the bell branch is elaborately chased. The tube is elaborately reinforced; all ferrules, sleeves, braces, and the spring drum cases are profusely engraved with floral designs.
