文政7年3月、大坂、角の芝居「仮名手本忠臣蔵(かなでほんちゅうしんぐら)」。「義士伝読切講釈(ぎしでんよみきりこうしゃく)」の三幕目と四幕目を独立させた通称「植木屋(うえきや)」。高師直(こうのもろなお)館に奉公するお鷹、弥七、実は塩冶浪人千崎弥五郎(せんざきやごろう)にほれて浅草観音仁王門に通ってくる。 -- 武藤 純子K

[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
