文政3年3月、大坂、角の芝居「義経千本桜（よしつねせんぼんざくら）」の二段目最初の「伏見稲荷（ふしみいなり）」の場。「鳥居前」とも呼ばれるこの場を象徴して鳥居の柱が描かれている。なお芝居では静御前（しずかごぜん）と呼ぶのが一般的である。
藤太が静を襲うところへ忠信が助けにあらわれる。忠信の姿には火焔隈（かえんくま）、化粧襷（けしょうだすき）、菱川（ひしかわ）の鬘（かつら）といった荒事のエッセンスがつまっている。 -- 武藤 純子K
