DescriptionPanel with design of dragon and swirling cloud in metallic gold supplementary weft patterning on a dark greenish-black silk satin ground. There are three carriers along the top and a natural ecru plain-weave hemp lining. The panel is from a set of five which originally covered the columns surrounding a statue of the Buddha.
ProvenanceBy 1918, Hervey E. Wetzel (b. 1888 - d. 1918), Boston; 1918, by inheritance from her cousin, Mrs. Albertine W. F. Valentine, Chicago [see note 1]; 1919, gift of Mrs. Albertine W. F.
