DescriptionFlattened spherical body with base ring and low lip; low cover with flat knob. Decoration in black glaze (burned red in places) and applied red: animal frieze, a human headed bird with lowered wings between two sphinxes with curled raised wings, at the right a panther, a bull, and another panther; a black band with red lines and a reversed band.
ProvenanceBy 1924: with Edward Perry Warren (according to a January 26, 1925, letter from Frank Gearing with the following provenance provided by Warren: bought in Athens, from an old collection); purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren, December 4, 1924, for $ 2,000.00 (this figure is the total price for MFA 24.449 -24.453)
