DescriptionBlue satin quilted petticoat; repeating deep scallop pattern; floral garlands with daisies alternating with tulip motifs with double band of zigzag stitiching above hem; two side slits and pleats at waistband. There are 9-10 quilting sitiches per inch.
InscriptionsWritten on fabric label sewn inside petticoat: "Petticoat worn by Elizabeth (Hylsop) Sumner about 1775-80 Marked 1906 by great-granddaughter G. W. Sargent"
