DescriptionTriptych: 53.2009 (left), 53.2010 (center), 53.2011 (right)

There are two versions of this design: one with a standing figure of Murasaki in the left sheet and publication information in the lower right corner of the right sheet; and this version (also in the British Museum and the Chazen Museum, Wisconsin), with a seated figure and no publication information. Marks describes the impression in the Lantz collection, probably the one with the standing figure, as having a date of 1890.12, with publisher Shimizuya Tsunejirô and blockcutter Asajirô.
This version may be a later reprint, possibly using the original right and center blocks but altering or replacing the left block. MFA information from the time of acquisition describes it as "Modern impression, in pale colors, from blocks given to British Museum by J. S. Happer."
