DescriptionGlazed earthenware potpuorri jar with deep blue, beige, and brown painted decoration, as well as raised stylized chrysanthemums in gilt on its midsection and distinctive aesthetic sgraffito on its azure base. The reticulated domed cover and the solid inner lid also with gilt decoration.
Marks
Marked in turquoise "FMC" conjoined, impressed with "408," and "93" in gilt.
ProvenanceEarly history unknown, although it was retailed by A. Stowell & Co. of Boston; purchased from Associated Artists, LCC, Southport, Connecticut, 2007.
