Swedish-born photographer Gosta Peterson immigrated to New York in the 1950s and took up fashion photography to earn his keep. His approach to his work was relaxed and playful so that that even staged shoots such as this double exposure of the British supermodel Twiggy are characterized by a feeling of spontaneity. Peterson photographed Twiggy during her visit to New York in 1967, at which time she was celbrated as a superstar. A number of Peterson's fashion images were published in "The New York Times" where his wife was an editor.
