DescriptionThis is a miniature shouldered globular jar of Predynastic Egyptian "D-ware" style. It has a flat base, no neck, and a rolled rim. Two lug handles have been attached at the shoulders. It is decorated with red painted designs (now quite faded) including wavy lines and hatched patterns that may represent botanical motifs.
ProvenanceFrom Demhid, Sham Nishai (Egypt). (ASN 45/446, 1908). Excavated by Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition for the Archaeological Survey of Nubia; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the Egyptian government.
