Using dense wood from his home region in Chartreuse, France, Martenon creates pieces in elemental shapes and muted, natural tones. His stripped-down, simple forms complement his delicate surface treatments—produced through processes like blow torching and acid burning. Often combining other materials with wood in his work, Martenon here brings slate and maple together to create a tranquil, meditative form.
