DescriptionOne of a set of four (with 2001.73.1-2, .4). Circular with raised sides chased with spiral flutes and gadrooned rim. The center is engraved with a coat of arms against drapery mantling.

Marks Struck on reverses with hallmarks (leopard's head, lion passant, date letter for 1752-53) and with maker's mark of Frederick Kandler.
InscriptionsThe arms are those of Weddell impaling those of Ramsden, as borne by William Weddell of Newby.
ProvenanceMarch 17, 1987, sold by an anonymous owner at Christie's, London, lot 320, where most probably bought by Alan and Simone Hartman, New York, NY; 2001, gift of Alan and Simone Hartman. (Accession date: February 21, 2001)
