A print by Toyokuni I based on the same Moronobu original: Forrer, Surimono (2013), #45; Rijksmuseum, Surimono: Poetry and Image (2000), #45
DescriptionRight sheet of a pair, with 17.3206.7.
According to Forrer 2013, the various prints of this subject are based on a painting by Moronobu once in the collection of Santô Kyôden (Kitao Masanobu). He mentions (but does not illustrate) two prints in Leiden, probably from the 1870s, that may be the same as MFA 17.3206.7 and 17.3206.8.
