DescriptionGround: linen. Design: crowned male figure, seated under canopy, with attendant at his left, receiving homage of a kneeling crowned female figure followed by 2 attendants holding up her train; 3 castles in background, one with pond and swimming ducks in front of it; pear tree at left, flowers, trees, birds and insects throughout landscape, kneeling deer and seated dog in foreground; sun at top. Worked with silks in neutral reds, pinks, faded purplish pinks, yellow, neutral yellows, green, yellowish greens, bluish green, blues, greenish blues, browns, rusty black and ivory and several kinds of metal thread (both silver and gold) and seed pearls, in tent, rococo, knot, satin (in Esther's crown) and laid work stitches. Pears stuffed with silk floss. Where black silk outlines have disappeared linen ground threads have been painted black.
