DescriptionBulbous jar with ringed base and bowl-shaped lid. Modeled appliques tranform the lid and base into a human body resembling that of a bundled corpse.
ProvenanceBy about 1955, acquired in Colombia by José Blanco, Miami [see note]; 1960s, given by José Blanco to his daughter-in-law, June Blanco, Colombia and Brookline, MA; 2005, year-end gift of June Blanco to the MFA. (Accession Date: January 25, 2006)
NOTE: According to the donor at the time of acquisition, her father-in-law collected ancient ceramics from Colombia. The objects were in the family's apartment in Miami by the mid-1950s.
