奉額 御戸帳のうちより風の薫りけり

人皇四十四代元正天皇の御時此山の麓の淵より龍女現じて/当山の絶頂へ夜なよな竜灯を捧るものから諸人ハあやしミ又ハ/尊ミて必この岑に霊仏あるらんと渇仰しけるに/星霜をへて十余人の順礼きたりて此山の/案内をさせしに/一つの岩屋の口に/小笹生茂りてさな/がら戸ざすがごとく/なれバ衆僧/達押開きて/見れバ観音の/像巍々として立/玉ふ則ち今の本尊/これなり十余人の/順礼ハ熊野権現/をはじめとして同行ハ/貴き権化に/ましませり猶後年に/いたりて当山の/住持静山/和尚本尊の/霊験にて命助り/たるを圓通傳に/くハしけれバ爰に/贅せず

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
