こゝろへだてぬ月の影森
奉額 茄子の葉もおがむや露の朝ぼらけ
行脚僧寳明
宝明諸国をめぐりて当山に/来りし所難病に/よつて蹇けれバ/余義なく/起に/西方を/念じ飛行の/鳥を見てうら/やみ終に七年の/春秋を送りしが/一日弘法大師勅を/受て諸国を/経歴する/砌り/爰に/来りて宝明が/蹇て当国の/順礼かなハ/ざるを/あハれミて/大士の霊像を/刻して与へ玉ふがゆへ宝明/歓喜踊躍/して是を本尊に安置し/けれバ宝明をもつて/当山の第一祖/とす宝明の/蹇たるハ全く/救世大士の/利益にて弘法に/値偶させしめん/が為なれバ不祥を/もつて吉事を/まねぎし/験奇なる/かな不思議なる/かな又当山に/誓願石といふ/霊石ありその/因縁長けれ/ハ爰に/略す

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
